I’m Aprile Elcich, a product designer based in Amsterdam. I’ve spent over 15 years in design, and 7+ years working with digital products.
I currently design at Supernova, where I joined the early product team and grew with the company through Series A. I’ve led design on many initiatives, working across research, UX, prototyping, and UI, and collaborating directly with developers to take projects from early ideas through to implementation. I’ve also contributed to our design system and developed a deeper understanding of design systems through working on Supernova’s core product.
Before Supernova, I co-founded and designed Voltra, a music player and novel streaming platform, taking it from concept to a promising early user base. I worked across product design, strategy and research, frontend development, branding, and user support, giving me a full-loop view of what it takes to launch a consumer product.
My past work spans freelance and agency design, both as a visual designer and frontend developer, including websites, branding, packaging, art direction, and editorial. I started my early career in Philadelphia at Free People, where I designed a custom handwritten logo still used on storefront signage around the world. I also started Notpaper, a popular art blog featuring international collage artists that grew into a niche creative community. I also have a parallel art practice in bead weaving and textiles.
I’m drawn to systems and craft: I enjoy deconstructing complicated problems, finding the patterns within them, and creating structure that makes things easier to navigate and work with. I care deeply about visual design and the decisions that give a product clarity, consistency, and personality.
